Friday night, in the chin numbing chill, we huddled together near our favorite spot downtown and took in the sights of the annual Amarillo Electric Light Parade. The parade lacked previous year's floats carrying bloody crucifixes bathed in creepy red lights but made up for it with cloggers, shriners, an assorted collection of candy throwers, and legions of pickup trucks.
As is tradition, the float people showered us with candy, one Almond Joy mini bar hitting me squarely in the forehead. Alex and Megan were quick to scoop up candy that littered the street, and they came up with quite the collection, helped in large part by the lack of any competition. (After all, what parents in their right mind would bring children out on a cold night like this and make them stand around waving at the local weather guy and other celebrities from such far flung float sponsors such as United Pump Supply and Two Men And A Trailer moving company?)
