This past weekend Megan made her community theater stage debut in The Velveteen Rabbit as the forest fairy, the character who blows fairy dust and brings the Velveteen Rabbit to life.
Rehearsals for this play had been fast and furious; it was just a handful of weeks between initial auditions and performances: three during the day for schools and four at various nights for everyone else.
And she did great. It was opening night, toward the end of the play, when Megan tiptoed on stage and floated around the other characters, just like you'd expect a fanciful forest fairy to move, and while she was out there, acting with the other kids, I realized I was holding my breath. This wasn't because I was nervous. It was because I was enthralled.
And, in the end, a little teary-eyed as well.
Save that costume. It's a winner for A Mid Summer Night's Dream!
